Eating Clean: Ezekial 4:9 Cinnamon Raisin Cereal

Since January, John and I have started the Eat Clean Diet.
The male version of the book was given to John from a friend at work. The book sat on John's nightstand for months and wasn't read until the holidays were over. Trying to change your diet during the toughest time of the year, in terms of eating healthy, was not the strategy we went for.

As the new year hit, John began reading the book, I could see his excitement and hunger to understand more of this healthy diet. The word diet always comes with it the thought of one starving himself of something to make him thinner. This book however showed us that eating healthy isn't about eating less, but eating right. The body is a furnace and needs constant "logs" thrown on the fire to keep it burning fat and calories (i.e. energy). Starving your body actually tells it to store fat and that is not what you want...more fat. Instead, the Eat Clean diet teaches you how to choose the highest quality of food and ditch the 21st century food mentality. So far, the recipes we have tried have all been very tasty.
The benefits of eating healthy have many rewards, but they don't come without effort. Preparing your food, writing out healthy menus, and working out are the "dues" you pay for a stronger and leaner body. There is a sense of worth you add to your temple when you take care of it for the Lord. Taking responsiblity for my body is a way to honor the Lord. Most people grow up on food that is not that nutritous, so I am posting some of our new food choices.
Today I am highlighting Ezekial 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Cinnamon Raisin Cereal. This cereal is made from sprouted grains and contains no flour. Understanding sprouted grain is a whole other entry, so I will leave that for another time, but I can tell you about the Ezekial 4:9 inspiration for creating healthy food.
The Holy Scripture says, "Take also unto thee wheat and barley and beans and lentils and millet and spelt and put them in one vessel and make bread of it..." Quoting from the actual cereal box, "We discovered when these six grains and legumes are sprouted and combined, an amazing thing happens. A complete protein is created that closely parallels the protein found in milk and eggs. In fact, the protein quality is so high, that it is 84.3% as efficient aas the highest recognized source of protein, containing all nine essential amino acids."

If oatmeal is hard to muscle down for you, give this cereal a try. It may cost a bit more, but remember, if you cut out buying a bag of potato chips or something else not healthy, you can use the extra money to buy the more nutritous choice. I heated this cereal in rice milk, which is also healthier than cow's milk. Rice milk tastes like skim milk to me, so don't forget to pick up some when you try this Eat-Clean cereal.
