Anne of Green Gables Illustration

It has been a while since I picked up a paintbrush and watercolor palette. School is out and summer is here. Time for me to enjoy my children being home. The day is filled with playing and swimming, resting and reading, cleaning and creating...and so I set the table for a time of painting and drawing.
The wooden table is wiped clean. An old glass honey jar is filled with clean water and a handful of brushes are tossed in. Paper and paint are set out and pencils are sharpened and ready. Olivia and Chase are excited to get started, so they slide up a wooden chair and reach for their pencils and brushes. Their imagination spills out on the art paper, while Little House in the Big Woods plays on the CD player. The birds are singing right outside the window and the feeling of homeyness surrounds them like sunlight when it fills a room. This feeling is contagious, so I grab my watercolors and paper and sit beside them. I sketch one of my favorite caricatures and out comes my first watercolor is years. It feels good to paint again and I think this needs to happen a bit more.
